Singapore Day 3 – Sunday Formal Dress

Here is day 3 run down.

Today being Sunday everyone dress’s up and goes out as a family. The women are dressed right up and men not so much.
Hot and humid was the order for the day. It was out of our Apartment and over to Tekka Centre to find some food/drink. Hot samosas and some other dish was the order this morning.

From here we took the train downtown. You can use your credit card to tap on/off for about $1.30 a trip. The interesting part of Singapore is there are many underground walkways you can take to get to places. This was you are not in the heat or humidity. Talk about the need for water here.

We headed down to see Merlion and the Bay Area along with an another type of Food Fair. This was more upscale than the one we eat at near the Apartment.

The Famous Merlion

I posted a photo of the Chefs yesterday and we went back to have late lunch early dinner at Paradise Dynasty home of the famous Xiao Long Bao. Xiao Long Bao are from the later 1800’s and originated in Shanghai. Xiao long bao are traditionally filled with pork. More modern innovations include other meats, seafood, shrimp, crab meat, and vegetarian fillings.
If you order these a warning should come with these. They are created by wrapping solid meat aspic inside and when steamed the meat aspic with steam the inside turns to soup.
I picked up one and took a bite and didn’t have a clue about the soup inside. I wore some of it, so be warned the whole dumpling should be eaten all at once.

We ordered 3 dishes total and tea. You start of with a dish of pickled mushrooms which I had my thoughts on but turned out to be very good.

We tried the assortment of dumplings which were something I never experienced at home. They give you a cheat cheat card to have them in order.

This dish has one of the different type of the Xiao Long Ba. In the upper right of the photo you can see a card suggesting the eating order and what they are. Included Signature Original (center) Garlic, Szechuan. Korean Kimchi, Foie Gras, Cheese. Crab Roe, and Black Truffle.

We visited the Raffles Hotel and walked around and spent some time there. This is home of the Singapore Sling which is an interesting story.

Really? You just have to know someone has tried it or is it part of the Art Gallery.

I did manage to get the Singapore Sling Virtual Cache at Raffles for the Long Bar where the Singapore Sling was invented.

I also managed to do the First Order of Merlion Virtual, Momentum Regular cache.

This Man of Divine Fire was a Virtual Cache that brought me full circle from a previous cruise. In 2017 I did a cruise from Singapore to Barcelona Spain with a stop in Mumbai. I did a tour that went to Gandhi’s house that is now a Museum. I spent some time there reading many letters he had written including one to Hitler.
This cache marked the location of where a portion of his ashes were scattered. I would have never known this had this cache never be placed here. This is why I cache around the world.

Mahatma Gandhi ashes scattered nearby.

After the meal we hopped back on the bus and road around a circuit to see more.
Once this was done it was a train ride back to the apartment, where we called it a day. I tell you the heat takes it out of you here. I bet you I drank upwards of 2 litres of water when I got back.
