Today marks day 9 of being at sea.
The weather has been warm for the most part but the ship has had some definite movement over this time. The pools have been closed about 50% of the time and currently closed now.
The weather has played a big part of what goes on around the pool. They have scheduled the band near the pool but only lasted one song before they pack up and head else where.
Yesterday all the sun worshippers were out nicely enjoying things until we went through a squall and the heavens opened up. I bet you many of the older crowd didn’t know they could move that fast.
I have heard a few people say they didn’t know it could be this rough crossing the North Pacific and would not do this cruise again. This many sea days can be a problem for some people and I admit that. People worry about not enough to do. I say there is something you can do to pass the time. There is also the problem with being sea sick. I have not seen much of that this cruise but this length of cruise tends to draw people who have cruised before.
I have just seen something in 40+ years of cruising that I have never seen before. A man just passed me carrying a Brita Water Jug full of of water.
Now the water in the cabin is drinkable they say. Yes I have drank the water in the cabin but now I am being a bit more cautious. Somebody I know recently was on another Princess ship that is older and got sick. They went to the hospital on board and the Doctor asked if they were drinking the ships water in the cabin. They were told on these “older” ships it is now being advised not to drink the tap water. Get filtered water up in the Buffet area.
I have had a cruise that had brown water in the bathroom for the whole cruise and yet we were told it was safe.
Yes they are to clean the fresh water tanks every few years but how well does it get done.
So tomorrow brings Honolulu and a whole day there.
The ship has many getting off there and going home for one reason or another. The couple we met on the first day of the cruise and had dinner with are getting off to fly back to Australia for a wedding. They will truly be missed. They have been fun to go into port with both in Thailand and Vietnam.
So I am planning on renting a car and driving around the island to grab a few caches and make a stop at Costco. Yes you read that right. You see Costco here has a great selection of Hawaii Shirts and the one I bought last time has garnered attention. I get no end of comments on it or offers to buy it.
I do believe that Claudia hopes we can have dinner ashore with our friends. They don’t know this yet but soon will.
Now here is a weird one for you. Coral Princess does not have draft beer as it is an older ship. One would have thought when they redid all the bars they might have added it but no they did not. Low and behold yesterday I noticed a fellow passenger with draft beer. Where did that come from I wondered. It turns out that Coral had a portable draft beer stand down below complete with Australian beer that they broke out yesterday to sell. Earlier in the cruise would have been better.
