Today we are in Lanzarote an Island I loved last year. This island is a volcanic island and there is no grass.
The plan was to rent a car again this year and drive around the island caching along the way.
The first cache of the day were two caches I did last year with Rumrunner1 that we found interesting. The first one was molino de Yaiza which is up a hill above a Camel farm. Sueatsea and Addict1 looked for some time with no results and I gave them a hint but the cache was missing from where I found it last year.
We soon left and headed to La Bomba another cache I did last year. I not only wanted Sueatsea and Addict1 see this one but my daughter to see this one.
From La Bomba we headed to another cache that required a short climb up a hill overlooking a small town called Tinajo the cache was called Tajaste.
From here it was off to El Crater (Jameos) which turned out to be the best cache of the day. We parked about 100 m from the cache on the side of the road. It looked like a moonscape just like most of where we have been today. Sue, Malcolm and I went to do the cache then the Jameos was there, first words WOW!Sue went back to get my daughter to see this.
Another view below.
My daughter found this flower growing near the Jameos.
From here we headed up to La Santa to grab two caches then off to the coast to try and get another one called Mirando al Mar We had to give up this cache due to time.
I have to say Lanzarote offers so much and yet is so different to any other place one may cache. I love this place and would love to go back and spend more time.
