Today I head to the the Port of Fort Lauderdale to board the cruise ship Celebrity Silhouette for a 15 night cruise to Italy. I have done transatlantic cruises the last two years and this will be my 3rd year in a row.
I have to say boarding was quick and painless once we arrived at the terminal. We were all done within about 10 minutes of arrival but had to wait for our friends another 20 minutes. This class of ship for Celebrity is only a few years old and the Celebrity Silhouette is only 2 years old. The one thing that happens is once the first ship is built in a class changes are made as the rest of the series are built. In this case changes were made from the original Celebrity Solstice.
Up on Deck 16 aft we have natural grass on the deck which is a first on any cruise ship. There are also Private Cabanas that can be rented for $150 a day. The great plus is the Ocean view Café on Deck 14 has an open area on the stern of the ship that allows for great sea views.

Today there would be no caching as we had to pick-up our friends head to the car rental location and drop off our car then the shuttle to the port.
When one sails out of Fort Lauderdale is is tradition as far back as I can remember for the ship to blow it’s horn as we sail by the apartment buildings at the entrance to the harbour.
Residents have their own preference as to cruise line they like and fly the flag of that cruiseline.
