Valencia, Spain

Today we are in Valencia, Spain and the possible problem of the day could be almost all is closed because it is Sunday.

We took the shuttle bus into the city and were surprised that the ride is almost 30 minutes. Once off the shuttle bus we headed for our first cache of the day called Valencia, ciudad de las flores across the street.
Getting to the cache was fantastic.

So here is the bridge that the cache was on.

In the park below was many Valencia Orange tree’s producing lots of oranges.

From here we headed to do a cache called Mercado Colón. While this cache isn’t on a old building it is attached to a pay phone. It is what was across the street.

This is open air plaza hosting restaurants.

From here we headed off to Casa de Los Dragones and the coordinates are not the cache location but a building nearby. Many caches in Europe have spoiler photos of the cache location along with the hint. In this case the cache was on a different street about 60m away. The hint said drainpipe, you know how many drainpipes I checked? If I had the spoiler photo it would have been much easier but it is hard to download all spoiler photos. I did locate this cache after about 20 minutes looking.

We headed for La Glorieta / Parterre which is a park built about 1800. This in itself says how old things are. The cache again was on a phone booth but it was the tree in the park that took the prize.

that is one BIG tree

Once we left this cache and walked around the corner to see this Government Building.

I have to say that caching on a Sunday in Valencia was fantastic. There wasn’t all the people or traffic. While all the stores were closed that didn’t matter because I wasn’t here to shop. I was here to look at buildings and cache.

In BC almost all hate urban caching but in Europe it is hard to say one hates it. Everything is so old including the parks.

Plaza

Above is one of the many Plaza’s you will find as you walk the streets.

Below is the busiest place we saw all day. Gelato stands and coffee shops surround the plaza.
