Today the plan was to meet at 8:00 at the valet and get the car then head north to the Dawg Paw caches K9 caches<\/a><\/p>\n

This series is not as easy as it would appear. It was almost 4 hours and 10 km ( 6 miles) of walking.
\nI have to say we arrived in the area and Rumrunner1 grabbed one cache that Sweet-Marie and I did last year.
\nWe were soon out of the car and on our way. Now me holding a commercial pilots licence and a love of flying it was my kind of day. How could holding a pilots licence and caching be my kind of day you may ask.
\nWell this is now Thursday and on Monday Operation Red Flag started at Nellis AFB just north of Las Vegas. want to see more just watch this video Called Fighter Pilot<\/a> .
\nWe started out on the trail and soon we had F-16’s, F-15’s, A-10’s, C-130’s, H-60’s helo’s. going overhead and near us for the time we were out here.
\nWe also had the USAF Thunderbird’s <\/a>fly by several times through out the day. This is their winter training ground where all new pilots come and learn the routine.<\/p>\n

So the burning question is have you ever wondered where all those helium balloons go that get released into the sky? Well we think we found the answer. While out doing the Dog Paw we saw dozens of them blowing by. Then there was one that caught our eye. This one had a special place as we were out caching and near a cache and what does one get when they complete a cache and the answer is a Happy Face.<\/p>\n

So we finished this up and headed slightly north to tackle the Girl Scout Trefoil<\/a> .<\/p>\n

This one was going to be a bit of touch and go because we had sunset to contend with. We started out and found many of the caches with maintenance issues. Lids that had been chewed off. This is the same problem we had in Idaho. We only had a couple of lids with us but not the number that was needed.<\/p>\n

The interesting part was that these were not all the same type of containers and ranged in difficulty and size. We even had a interesting cache container that was a puzzle.<\/p>\n

This series took about 2.5 hours to complete and about 6 km.<\/p>\n

As with all hiking\/caching in the desert one must wear good shoes and be prepared. Take lots of water and lip balm.<\/p>\n

Today we managed 76 caches and hiked about 16 km total. This was a good day in the desert.
